We have for sale a german fire official’s bayonet

The short bayonet was designated for use by Fire Brigade leaders and investigators.

Nickel-plated hilt fittings in very clean “sleeper” condition.

Black Bakelite grip plates are perfect – no cracks or chips.

Obverse of the blade features a 5 ¾” long frosted panel with floral/vine motif flanking the central inscription, “Für 25 JährigeTreueDienstzeit” (For 25 Years of Loyal Service) in raised Gothic script. The etched panel retains 100% of the background frosting.*

Plated blade length: 19.6cm.  Very good condition, with only light runner marks. No nicks.

Brown leather blade buffer pad in very good condition.

Steel scabbard retains approximately 95%+ of factory black enamel.  Some paint loss on the exposed ball finial, as normal.

Black leatherfrog in very good condition, with minor wear at appropriate places.

Fire Brigade leader’s portepee in good order – black finish has faded with time.

* The etched motif resembles closely that of E. Pack &Söhne motif pictured on page 150 of German Etched Dress Bayonets by Wayne H. Techet.  Johnson’s of Fredericksburg have kindly examined good quality images and are of the opinion that the etching is genuine 1930s German!
